Roderick Wayne (Roddy) Burkle is a lifelong Foley resident with deep roots in the community and a strong record of public service. A proud graduate of Foley High School (Class of ’79), Roddy continued his education at Faulkner State Community College, earning an associate degree with honors in Business, followed by a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Information Technology from the University of South Alabama.

Roddy built a successful career in telecom engineering, with roles that took him from Dallas, Texas to Stockholm, Sweden and back home to Foley in 1994. Upon returning, he joined Gulf Telephone Company (now CenturyLink), continuing his professional journey while raising a family and becoming deeply involved in his hometown.

Dedicated to public service, Roddy served for 25 years as a firefighter and officer with the Foley Volunteer Fire Department and spent eight years on the Foley Planning Commission. He currently serves on four city boards and the Foley Public Facilities Cooperative District, contributing his experience and insight to help shape Foley’s future.

In 2016, Roddy earned his Alabama Real Estate License, followed by his Alabama Brokers License in 2024, and now helps others achieve their dreams of homeownership and commercial property investment through Living My Best Life Realty.

Roddy and his wife Terry enjoy the coastal lifestyle, spending time outdoors, on the water, and with their two beautiful grandchildren. Committed to preserving the quality of life that makes Foley special, Roddy is running for City Council to ensure smart, planned growth, strong infrastructure, and responsive leadership for District 3.

Roddy Burkle's campaign for Foley City Council District 3 centers on four key priorities to ensure Foley continues to thrive as one of Alabama’s fastest-growing communities.

  • Foley is experiencing rapid growth, necessitating robust infrastructure to support its expanding population.  Roddy supports proactive planning with the future in mind – not just reacting to problems as they arise.

  • To maintain Foley's charm while accommodating growth, Roddy supports smart zoning that preserves the character of our neighborhoods, protects property values, and maintains high quality of life.  He does not support high-density developments that strain infrastructure, increase traffic and change the fabric of our community.

  • Ensuring public safety is paramount. With 25 years of service as a Foley volunteer firefighter, Roddy knows firsthand how critical it is to support our police, fire, and EMS teams.  He’s committed to making sure they have the staffing and resources needed to keep our growing community safe.

  • Roddy believes that strong schools are the foundation of a strong community.  He supports proven, evidence-based programs that boost student achievement and prepare our young people for success – whether in college, careers, or technical fields.  As Foley continues to grow, Roddy is committed to ensuring our public schools have the resources they need to support students, teachers, and families alike.

This year, all citizens will vote at Foley City Hall. The municipal election is set for Thursday, August 26, 2025, at Foley City Hall, located at 407 East Laurel Avenue, Foley, Alabama. City districts have been updated, so please click below to check your address for district information.
